As the world celebrates #InternationalLabourDay, progress made in improving decency in coffee work environment is still challenged by gap in gender mainstreaming.  Women hold an estimate of 15% of leadership position in the coffee subsector. The widening gender inequalities limits progress made in achieving universal decent work & economic development – Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 8.)

Connect coffee company acknowledges the changing roles of women in achieving & managing sustainable coffee production. Building independence through empowering women like Sarah Njoki Njari – Specialty coffee roaster at Connect coffee roasters , Nairobi is among the avenue to mainstream women role in decision making in achieving sustainable coffee production.

Sarah Njari – Specialty coffee roaster explaining to coffee farmers on ways to reduce on post harvest loses to enhance specialty coffee production.

While the gender parity might not go away soon, women are a stronger links in light of reasoning together for sustained growth & economic development.

Happy International Labour Day
