BARISTA SERIES #04

Home / Connect with customers / BARISTA SERIES #04

Meet Lindah Nyagi, first specialty female barista at Connect Coffee Roasters outlet – Riverside drive. For 3 years, she has grown to become a renowned barista mentoring upcoming  baristas.

How would you describe your first cup of coffee?

I was served a Latte ( didn’t know what it was ) but I felt it was bitter.  Since I was on a date, I had to maintain my standards . Later on I took up the challenge to find out more about the coffee drink and the rest is history.

Why choose the specialty coffee scene?

Good coffee is too obvious , but specialty pays a lot of attention to quality at cup level. I always want to stand out and specialty coffee defines my personality.

Which skills have you perfected as a barista since joining Connect Coffee?

Exposure using high end coffee extraction machines – Victoria Ardwino, Black eagle has greatly improved my espresso extraction. I invite you to taste my espresso extraction and to see my brewing skills using the filter coffee method.

Where do you see yourself in a few years time?

Deeper into specialty coffee : I look forward to become a coffee taster , professionally known as a cupper. An opportunity to venture into green coffee trading would be exciting.

Do you have a favorite coffee drink?

Kalita, because of the art that goes on while brewing it. Its perfect for people who do not mind falling in love with the process.

Give us some facts that your customers might not know about you?

Even on my days off,you can often catch me hanging out enjoying coffee or a glass of wine.

Is there anything you would wish to communicate to female baristas, and those aspiring?

Encourage more female to join the coffee world especially specialty coffee industry. With less than 10% national female footprint, they can start their coffee journey at Connect Coffee Empowerment Center.

Hi! I could have sworn I’ve visited your blog before but after going through many of
the posts I realized it’s new to me. Regardless, I’m certainly delighted I found it and I’ll be book-marking it and checking back often!
